"P2" ~ 2007

"P2"  ~  2007

Netflix description  =  A workaholic business woman who's last to leave the office on Christmas eve finds herself terrorized in the parking garage by a twisted security guard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This wasn't quite what I would've lumped into the horror genre, but it was a good thriller type movie.  Some good jump scares and an interesting storyline, and backstory.  Overall good, mellow movie, but worth the watch.
My score  3/5
"Honeymoon" ~ 2014
"Honeymoon"  ~  2014
Netflix description  =  Newlywed bliss turns to paranoia after bride Bea sleepwalks outside a remote honeymoon cabin and scares groom Paul with her increasingly odd behavior.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Although this was a fairly predictable movie, I still found it to be an enjoyable watch.  No gore or big jumps but a lot of creepiness and a dark story.  Worth the watch if in the mood for something "mellow".

My score  3/5

"Dark Skies" ~ 2013

"Dark Skies"  ~  2013

Netflix Description  =  A couple has trouble convincing friends and neighbors that an alien is entering their house each night to terrorize their children.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The above description is quite a bit off in my opinion.  For the first half of the movie the parents are trying to figure things out, thus building a well told abduction film.  While I am not a fan of most alien movies, this had a good storyline and even a couple surprises.  Horror genre?  Not really but again a good watch.
My score  3/5
"World War Z" ~ 2013
"World War Z"  ~  2013
Netflix description  =  UN employee Gerry Lane races against time and fate as he travels the world trying to stop the spread of a deadly zombie pandemic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

While I did enjoy this movie, it is quite a stretch putting it in the horror movie genre.  Yes, there are zombies, however the movie focuses on the "shoot em up" and grenade action making it more of and action-adventure genre than horror.  That said, it was a good action story.  No gore but lots of explosions and fun energy to hold interest to the end.  Worth the watch, not worth the hype...

My Score   3/5

"The Mooring" ~ 2012

"The Mooring"  ~  2012

Netflix description  =  A group of gadget addicted teen girls gather in the Idaho wilderness for a program to help them lose dependency on technology.  Camping on a riverbank in the middle of nowhere they're harassed by a strange couple who soon go on a murderous rampage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a good movie with lots of action and beautiful scenery.  The kill scenes are random, but the unanswered questions make the storyline even more intriguing.  Overall good movie, just not quite the horror genre.
My score   3/5
"Tales from the Darkside: The Movie" ~ 1990
"Tales from the Darkside:  The Movie"  ~  1990
Netflix description  =  In this feature spin-off of the creepy television anthology, psycho chef Betty plans to cook a little boy.  The crafty tyke however, stalls the violence by distracting Betty with three tales of terror.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I consider this in the no matter how many times I watch it, its always wonderful, movie catagory.   I love the short film / anthology movies and these three all well told and just a fun watch overall!

Also, as my little horror hounds know, anything with Christian Slater automatically gets an extra star.

My score   5/5

"Haunter" ~ 2013

"Haunter"  ~  2013

Netflix description  =  Putting a new spin on spooky, the haunted soul in this film - - 15 year old Lisa - - is long dead, and the ghost she senses is a flesh and blood teen.  Once Lisa figures out the score, she must help her real life haunter unravel their houses secrets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a fun movie from start to finish.  The storyline was new and well told from the "other side".  I particularly liked the back story and how it became entangled with the primary story.  Overall a good "family friendly" thriller.
My score  3/5
"Dark Touch" ~ 2013
***  first and foremost I want to thank you all, we are at almost 5000 page views  :)  ***
"Dark Touch"  ~  2013
Netflix description  =  After a remote country house takes on a malevolent persona and kills 11 year old Neve's family, no one believes her claim that her home is to blame.  As cops look for human killers and friends take care of Neve, a hidden violence continues to build.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

So the movie that I watched is not really the above description.  That said, it was Irish horror and pretty slow moving in the beginning.  However as the movie continues it builds to reveal a powerful message along with the storyline.  No gore, little violence, but still worth the watch and a good "thriller".

My score    3/5

"Madhouse" ~ 2004

"Madhouse"  ~  2004

Netflix description  =  Psychiatry intern Clark Stevens investigates the murder of a nurse at Cunningham Hall Mental Facility, home to a slew of dangerous psychotics.  Soon he encounters supernatural forces that would drive any sane person mad.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a really good suspenseful movie.  The storyline builds toward some great twists and surprises all the way to the end.  Not a lot of gore, but one creative kill scene and lots of shadow play.  Certainly worth the watch!!
My score  3/5
"The Ninth Gate" ~ 1999
"The Ninth Gate"  ~  1999
Netflix description  =  An international search for a rare copy of a demonic tone, "The Nine Gates of the Shadow Kingdom" brings an unscrupulous book dealer deep into a world of murder, double dealing and Satanic worship in director Roman Polanski's gothic Mystery.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While I could not consider this a horror movie, I guess the content itself is.  I loved the storyline as it unfolds itself, and even more the untold, but still seen and understood, backstory.  Definitely a good movie, and worth the watch... but not really horror!

My score   3/5

"Messages Deleted"

"Messages Deleted"  ~  2009

Netflix description  =  This is a creepy thriller about Joel Brandt, a writer drawn into a web of a serial killer apparently intent on bringing one of his scripts to terrifying life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a good murder mystery / thriller movie.  It was fairly predictable but it was a fun watch.  Not high on gore, but lots of suspense.  Good background movie.
My score  3/5  (painfully average)
"Stranded"
"Stranded"  ~  2013
Netflix description  =  After being bombarded by a meteor shower, the crew of a lunar space station discovers the meteors harbor alien spores, which replicate and mutate into shape shifting predatory life forms hell bent on destroying the astronauts one by one.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This was definitely more science fiction than horror, I guess the alien was the horror factor.  However the storyline, while fairly predictable, had lots of action, some good kill scenes and was still a fun watch.  For a space movie, it was a good average movie, and of course anything with Christian Slater gets an extra point!

My score   4/5

"Black Forest"

"Black Forest"  ~  2012

Netflix description  =  When tourists visit a European village, and agree to observe a pagan ritual in the forest, they become trapped in an alternate fairy tale dimension.  They must escape to survive - - but first they need to find the baby who was abducted from the group.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knew that this was a Syfy tv movie going in, and was pleasantly surprised.  This was a fun watch!  Like most Syfy movies, not what I would call horror, persay, but it was a fun entertaining story.  I liked the new twist on some old favorite ideas.  Worth watching!
My score   3/5
"The Frozen"
"The Frozen" ~ 2012
Netflix description =  Stranded deep in the wintry forest after a snow mobile accident, city slickers Emma and Mike find themselves at the mercy of a creepy, silent hunter who begins to stalk them.  The situation gets even more nightmarish for Emma when Mike disappears.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sigh...  This was another slow, disappointing movie.  Lots of snow and whining!  Also there is nothing creepy about the sexy hunter, heck he was one of the best parts of the movie!  The story was ok, but totally predictable and again - - boring!  My opinion, not really worth the time!

My score  2.5/5  (.25 for sexy hunter)

"Airborne"

"Airborne" ~ 2012

Netflix description =  After takeoff, the passengers on a plane discover that the pilots have been brutally murdered.  Suddenly, the plane disappears off the radar, and one by one, the passengers turn into dangerous, bloody psychopaths.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So this was NOT the movie I was anticipating by above description.  However it was a decent action/thriller.  There were a few different storylines that did connect with a couple twists to keep it interesting.  No gore, and the end push to try to make this a horror movie, just missed its mark.  Still....  I didn't dislike it, so I give it a truly average rating.
My score 3/5
"Graveyard Shift"
"Graveyard Shift" ~ 1990
Netflix description =  Hired by a textile mill, some new graveyard shift workers are told to rid the plants underground floors of rats.  But what lurks in the tunnels isn't just any rats nest - - theres one giant, man-eating rodent waiting for his midnight snack.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I knew I that I had read this story, but as I watched the movie, it became clear I had never seen it.  It was an ok movie, totally truly average creature feature.  Worth the watch, but at same time good background movie

My score   2.5/5

"Walled In"

"Walled In" ~ 2009

Netflix description =  Young engineer Sam is hired to oversee the demolition of a remote building, only to learn that the architect in a perversion of Egyptian mythology, has buried people alive in the walls.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a good "thriller" genre of stories, but it was not a horror movie.  This was a fun suspenseful movie, with lots of backstories intertwining.  It did have its slow moments, but over all a good watch.
My score  3/5
"13Teen (For Sale by Owner)"
"13Teen (For Sale by Owner)" ~ 2005
Netflix description =  On edge over news that a serial killer is at large, Sera arrives home to find a real estate agent waiting for her, and she reluctantly invites him in.  As Sera grows fearful of her guest, an alarm system technician arrives.  Can she trust either man??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would not have put this in the horror genre, but Im glad they did, thus leading to me watching and enjoying it.  This is a great suspenseful who done it type of mystery.  Red flags everywhere, who do you trust, why, etc.... And of course some great twists at the end!  Over all good movie and definitely worth the watch!!

My score   3.5/5

"Twixt"

"Twixt" ~ 2012

Netflix description =  In this Gothic horror film from Francis Ford Coppola, a has been writer becomes embroiled in a murder mystery during a stop on his book tour.  The ghost of a girl appears in his dreams and reveals some surprising and dark secrets.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a very interesting dark tale.  There were so many stories all playing at once that at times it did seem a little off in the storytelling itself, but still good.  I liked the use of lighting and character development, and of course the twists and intertwining of tales.  I would definitely say worth the watch!
My score  3/5
"Smile"
"Smile" ~ 2009
Netflix description = What seems like a lucky find. turns out to be a bloody harbinger of death foretold.  When students vacationing in Morocco stumble upon an antique instant camera.  The fun of capturing images, quickly diminishes when the subjects start turning up dead.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I  really enjoyed this movie.  I would have to say it is move in the "thriller" genre, than "horror", but a good story none the less.  The kill scenes were muted, but attainable, and again the story is good enough to hold attention.  Worth the watch.

My score    3/5
