"All the Boys Love Mandy Lane" ~ 2006

"All the Boys Love Mandy Lane"  ~  2006

Netflix description  =  Beautiful teen Mandy Lane is perfect and all the boys want her, badly.  But when she accepts an invitation to a weekend party at a secluded ranch, the bodies begin piling up and Mandy finds herself in a fight for her life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was a fairly predictable teen scream type movie, but still a great fun to watch!  The storyline had a couple good plot twists and some gore.  I found one of the kill scenes particularly sadistic.  Overall, definitely worth the watch
My score  3/5
"Stitches" ~ 2012
"Stitches"  ~  2012
Netflix description  =  Never accidently kill a clown at a party.  Stitches the clown is on the loose and is hunting down the partygoers who caused his untimely death.  Are the revelers to blame or is Stitches criminally insane and is using the accident as an excuse for revenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This movie was so silly I couldn't help but love it!  The storyline itself is fun and a little different.  There is some gore, lots of dark humor and some very creative kill scenes.  Again its super cheesy and just a fun watch!  Definitely worth the time!

Movie Review ~ "Malevolence" 2004

"Malevolence"  ~  2004

Netflix description  =  After a botched bank heist, a gang of criminals takes a young mother and daughter hostage holding up in what they think is a deserted farmhouse.  But the police are the least of their worries as a madman in residence begins exterminating his guests.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unbeknownst to me this movie is actually a prequel to the movie "Bereavement" (2010).  This also involve Martin Bristol, and filled in blanks that I had from watching "Bereavement" first.  That said, on its own, its a good storyline with a few surprising twists to keep us entertained.  Worth the watch!
I really enjoyed this fairly scary ghost. story.  Granted, it was another repeat watch but good enough to be worth it.  Its a good storyline, and the character portrayal cant help but capture your attention.  There are a few twists and turns and just overall good movie!
I found this to be a good, creepy ghost story.  There are some good kill scenes and even a few unseen plot twists right to the very end.  Overall a fun movie and worth the watch!!
"Shallow ground"
"Shallow ground"  ~  2004
Netflix description  =  Beset with guilt for failing to prevent a serial killers latest homicide, small town sheriff, Jack Sheppard may get a chance at redemption when a nude, blood drenched teen boy turns up at the station clutching a big knife.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This was a really fun movie, and hardly relating to above description except as the opening scene.  I found this a fresh new twist on the usual serial killer, vengeance story.   There are decent amounts of gore and original kill scenes.  Certainly worth the watch!

My score  3/5

"Texas Chainsaw"

"Texas Chainsaw"  ~  2013

Netflix description  =  The Leatherface saga continues where the 1974 classic left off.  When a young woman travels to Texas to collect her inheritance, she discovers that the brutal chainsaw-wielding madman is part of the bequest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I really really liked this installment in the Texas chainsaw movies.  Of course there was lots of gore and over the top kill scenes, but it also showed another side of Leatherface, making him much more human in my eyes.  Overall great movie and definitely worth watching!
My score   4/5
"Hollow"
"Hollow"  ~  2013
Netflix description  =  Shrouded by the mystery of a dark spirit that wills young couples to suicide, four friends on holiday take local folklore and turn it into an investigation of truth, realizing that belief in a myth can quickly materialize into reality.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I tried really hard to like this movie, but after two viewings, it was hard to get through.  There are some good creepy scenes but mostly I found it dry and boring.  I decided to mark it as just below average and not on my recommendation list.

"Bereavement"

"Bereavement"  ~  2010

Netflix description  =  When teen orphan Allison goes to live with relatives on their remote farm, she discovers that a twisted neighbor has been training 10 year old Martin Bristol, a boy he kidnapped five years before, in the ways of serial murder.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I  was very  happily surprised at this movie.  It has a slow start, but when it gets going it is awesome to the end.  There is a lots of gore, some brutal kill scenes, and a creepy kid.  Always a winning combo!  Definitely worth the watch!!
My score  4/5
"Messages Deleted"
"Messages Deleted"  ~  2009
Netflix description  =  This is a creepy thriller about Joel Brandt, a writer drawn into a web of a serial killer apparently intent on bringing one of his scripts to terrifying life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This was a good murder mystery / thriller movie.  It was fairly predictable but it was a fun watch.  Not high on gore, but lots of suspense.  Good background movie.

My score  3/5  (painfully average)

"The Fog"

"The Fog"  ~  2005

Netflix description  =  This creepy thriller is about an island town off the coast of Oregon that's forced to contend with some unwelcome visitors from its past: the spirits of lepers and sailors aboard a ship that the hamlets fore-fathers had steered astray on purpose.  Those aboard the doomed vessel all wound up lost in the fog forever.  Now they're back from the mist, eager to exact revenge on the descendants of their murderers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I remember watching the original when I was (much) younger and it sure seemed a lot scarier.  That said this was a still a good movie.  They did a well done modern remake.  Lots of creep factor and I must admit to jumping at least twice.  :)  Worth the watch
Netflix description  =  After plucking a young girl from her wealthy parents for ransom, a band of kidnappers find the tables are turned as their hideout winds up being a house of horrors.  The abandoned school is haunted by a chilling curse that resurfaces each Spring.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Personally I really enjoyed this movie.  Lots of action and a decent amount of fear and gore.  I was unsure how the multiple storylines were going to intersect but they did so with a very easy adaptation.  Good movie and I would say worth the watch.
